As Cassie packs her bags in preparation for her return to Spaghetti Town, there’s a knock on the door of her hotel room. Cassie instinctively reaches for a gun. The knock is followed by the sound of a woman’s voice.
“Hey, it’s Lexi Kade. I received a note asking me to meet here some time ago.” There’s a slight pause. “This is Cassie Kade’s room, yeah? Sorry if I’ve got the wrong place.”
English accent, London by the sound of her, which matches the videos Cassie has seen. Satisfied that her visitor is who she says she is, Cassie places the gun into the nearest suitcase, which rests on her bed, then opens the door. A smile, a rare genuine one, appears on her face, as for the first time since the death of her mother 19 years ago, Cassie gets a proper look at a relative other than her sister.
“No Lexi, you’re… you’re in the right place. It’s lovely to meet you.” She extends an arm toward her cousin for a handshake.
Lexi laughs, and instead effortlessly pulls Cassie in for a hug, inadvertently causing Cassie to immediately become aware of the fact this woman is larger than her. And stronger.
