My solution, in part, is to live in the past watching microcosms of life I can remember in the 80s, 90s etc in wholesome old TV shows. Shows like pic are like preserved ecosystems totally lost now, views as through a glass darkly "under glass" as it were. I like to think the characters has a sort of independent "Platonic" existence in their little slice of multiverse, and would be utterly horrified if they saw what future awaited so continue to exist in 80s world.
