I think it's best to just enjoy them for what they are, and if what that is is worthy of being grown, it'll grow more users in its time. But speaking of monopolies, I remember from those Q&As I listened to that m00t thought 4chan should be the only English-language imageboard. Now, it's obvious why the creator of it would want that, but there's something to be said about having everything in one place. Competition can never hurt, though.

Don't they stay within a general for it on /lit/, though? I remember seeing that the last time I was there, and not much discussion of it outside of that.
