>>2428520i have a master's in engineering, i work with poop water. i wanted to go into engineering originally, but i took on a kind of nihilistic approach to life in uni and switched into environmental engineering since that's what dealt with drinking and waste water treatment. it wasn't a high paying or sought after field, but it served an absolutely necessary purpose to society so i figured i might as well follow that route. i don't regret it, the work is interesting enough and the coworkers have always been pretty great to get along with.
