I kinda agree. I used to only watch subs if i could help it but watching the ranma dub really changed my mind on this, you can tell they put alot of time into getting it right and i think it clicks especially well because the same company that did the dub also published the manga in the west which was my first experience of the series. Also there are some "big" names in it like the woman who voiced spike in mlp etc so thats fun
Amatuerish dubs can be fun too though and if you feel like you're missing something you can always turn subs on at the same time
