I have always considered the enemy of my enemy to be useful, but not necessarily a friend
but as I said, I prefer to address the surreptitious evil now rather than later. At the very least, an immutable enemy should always be declared immediately. I tried to come to agreeable terms with him multiple times. I made peace offerings and attempted negotiations, but he is abstinent and refuses to give up his vice under any remotely reasonable circumstance. I'm not shrewd enough to play some great game for the sake of short term convenience.
