>>21344610This is actually a great movie compared to pretty much anything that comes out today. Some of the lines sound like something out of TKs manifesto, and I'm shocked that it was allowed to be put into a movie. That being said, I saw it recently in theaters (25th anniversary) so I have some criticisms.
1. They try to throw in a million references to well known philosophical problems. Probably seemed deep when I first watched it but I now I realize they were just throwing shit at the wall and hoping something sticks.
2. Apparently Neo was supposed to he played by Will Smith originally. That sheds some light on what the story was intended to mean. Something about black liberation. Even with a white guy as Neo its still a bit on the nose with Morpheus and the Oracle and half of Morpheus' crew being nonwhite. Not to mention all the agents are white, which in hindsight is not a coincidence.
3. Super cheesy over the top fight scenes.
4. Someone apparently flipped to random pages of the Torah to come up with names for the movie. Adam Street, Nebuchadnezzar, Zion... then Morpheus and Trinity out of nowhere (see item 1).
The rest of the movies are far worse on point (2). As I recall the last movie has Zion run by black lesbians.
On top of all that someone needs to explain pic related.
