>>10366569What if you built your castle next to a quarry like in ye olden days?
1 - I was doing some math and trying to figure out the cost per story. I figured just for building a 50ft squared concrete tower with 5ft thick walls, it would take you about 300,000$ per story just for the concrete alone. So about 1 million $ for a 3 story concrete tower.
2 - Would using steel I-beam framework help to lessen the cost of a castle? Steel I-beams are relatively inexpensive, only about 100$ and you can get a construction company to put together a steel structure for relatively little. After you have a steel structure going, you can start adding concrete walls as you can afford them.
3 - Do you know if aircrete would work? It's just concrete mixed with foam. Really light weight and easy to work with. My only question is if it can be used to make loadbearing 3 story walls?
Over in France there is a group that is construction a simple small castle with ancient techniques and tools. It's taken them about 20 years to get to 90% done with a permanent work crew of 30 people and during the summer about 600 volunteers come and work for a bit. With modern tools, I bet you could slam a castle out in under 3 years.
