>>23831355I always try to write scenes based on how they would be in real life, I find that works best in media and if you read a lot of old books that’s generally how they were written. Then again, writing a script for a film or television series would be a lot different because those are visual media and you can relay a lot of story elements visually as where in a novel you have to relay everything through clever words, dialogue, and descriptions.
Probably less saps and more laziness/social mindset of “that’s just how it’s done”.

Anyway yeah, it’s in the same vein as falling down and fight club: normal white collar white male wagie gets fed up with suburban life and does socially unacceptable stuff. I think American Psycho technically falls into this category, although I think that was intended to be satire of YUPPIE culture of the 80s and just ended up being a really weird and very memeable film.
