my parents are the same way, except with food. they'd eat garbage plastic imported spanish or dutch or moroccan tomatoes and only buy good garden tomatoes when i'm around. i don't get it, it's not like they spend a lot of money. the main dumb thing they spend money on is my dad's cigarettes but that's not enough to account for them being so cheap when shopping for themselves.
