>>10010070The problem with people is that they need motivation. Ancient people had no lack of it. No motivation to hunt? You don't eat and you die.
So it's always important to put out goals for people in a industrialized society. Get a good job, get a wife, buy a home, have kids, explore hobbies. But... all of those cornerstone goals are being pushed further and further away... and the ones that are attainable are watered down so to speak. Not attractive. A wife that's been with 10 other men in a society where the divorce rate is 50%? What kind of good jobs are there to raise a family on? Are homes attainable?
So then you get into defeatism, nihilism. Which is a self fulfilling prophecy in it's own right in small doses. But when you see a major societal shift towards entire generations heading down that path and treating it with mindless consumerism and escapism, well it's setting up certain structures to an inevitable collapse.
Western civilization has passed it's golden age and it's on a steady decline with band-aids stuck over it's opened wounds. And it'll only take one really bad thing to happen to make it all fall apart. Like a pandemic.
So this may pass and the status quo may be maintained another day, but I think we're going to see some good change soon lads. It'll just come at a big cost.
