Transnistria was just an Ukrainian territory that Russia used to spread communist propaganda to Moldova back in the WW2 and later united with Moldova during the Cold War.
After The Declaration of Independence (27 august 1991), the ruskis fled to Transnistria and auto-proclaimed themself as an independent republic. After that, began the war between Moldova and Transnistria (that was backed by Russia) and finished with Moldova giving autonomy to Transnistria and signing a bunch of peace decrees between them and Russia.
Basically, we are forced to have it exist because of Russia.
