>>10021376To explain circumcision's prevalence in America to someone from a country where parents/doctors are rational about baby-dick cutting, is like a Japanese explaining honor culture or a Swede explaining Law of Jante. It's really hard to do.
It is the norm here to amputate your sons foreskin. Even if it causes him pain. Even if there are risks. You "have to". In many peoples mind. The idea of leaving your sons penis alone is simply never even considered, to many people. It's just "what you do". Why? If you asked the average normie physician or normie parent they would look at you shocked for even asking the question and say something like "it's cleaner this way, obviously". Have any of these people touched a foreskin? Washed an intact penis? No. But they have been successfully convinced that simply having some slack skin on your dick must require an absurd amount of maintenance, and when not maintained they stink and produce spoonfuls of smegma, and that smegma is the worst thing in the world, and that you are doing your son a favor by cutting off that troublesome bit of skin from him. In fact, you're a great parent for doing it when hes too young to remember having it done! (And too young to fight back or say no)
It's really hard to explain, again. It's a cultural thing that is mainly rooted in disgust and misinformation. A lot of it comes from media, movies where a guy having a foreskin and it makes his penis gross and smelly is the joke and the punchline. Doctors dont help the situation since they never make it clear it is a choice. Many doctors just ask "ready for the circumcision?" and many parents sign the consent form. Lots of chaos happens in the hospital room after birth. They whisk the baby away for numerous tests and injections and shove all these papers in the mothers face while shes still under anesthesia/drugs many times. Many americans have absolutely no idea how sensitive the foreskin actually is, they just assume its a flap of skin
