My theory is that Yonkers is, in fact, self-aware. He must be incredibly lonely and values our companionship so much that whenever he notices that people start paying less attention to him, he drops a little bit of info about how he did certain unsavoury things in the past, just to keep the replies coming. Prove me wrong.
