I can't think if any reason why someone woulddrink alchohol except in these 3 particular cases
a) they are in the prison and theres no nutmeg in the kitchen
b) they are trying to turn that 0,5 mg of xanax into 5,0 mg of xanax, amnesia and violence
c) they are stranded on an island that has a lot of suggy wuggy but no substance carrying plants, fungi or frogs
