While the Battanians are definitely expanding, the fact is, is that we need to recruit more lords to our flag in order to manage all of the cities and castles.
I was in the Khuzait Khanate trying to find some good horses and make some good trades when the war broke out. On my way back west, I beseiged a castle, I had no intention of taking it, but I did manage to get the enemy to draw their forces away from the west and towards the east where I was. The fools gathered a 400 man army to go against my 200 elite troops (I only carry rank 4 or greater in my warband). They dared to try to attack me. I always start by trying to convince them to join Battania but they refused. I slaughtered them all (I only had maybe a dozen men lost) and took their lords captive. Then after that battle, I saw an army of 700 coming towards me. Since I have a horse for every single one of my men, I was easily able to out run them.
That at least drew all their forces away from the western front, literally as far away from Battanian lands as they could be. By the time I reached my personal holdings, Caladog's army had taken two of their cities.
In peace time and in war, I go around trying to recruit more lords to fight for our side. Even though our lands keep expanding, I worry about the consolidation of many lords with diminishing lands, making each conquest more and more costly. Since my Charm skill is my highest skill, almost maxed out at this point, I find it is best to defeat an enemy by conversion.
I just want my lands to be secure, my peasants to by safe, and my coffers to be full.
