>>10186579this is why i hate picasso more than any other modern painter, because he had potential. real potential. picasso could have been the best painter to have ever lived, if only he tried. pic related, this portrait of his father was done by picasso at age 14. it isn't perfect, but it's better than 50yo men were doing at the same time, better than his father's work. picasso could have been the GOAT. he chose not to be. instead, he ran away to paris, got drunk, founded a degenerate school of painting, inspired generations of bad work, and continually denied his destiny -- all through his shit career, he refused to live up to his potential. and he knew it. he walked the easy road. drinking, smoking, mistreating women, this was preferable to the hard work of becoming the greatest artist of all time. which is who he should have been. maybe the pressure was too much, he's a regular fucking shinji. the worst part is he knew it. he knew he was better than his peers, or could be if he only tried. there's evidence of this throughout his entire body of work, occasional glimpses of the artist he ought to be. small moments where he'd remind critics, skeptical of some new degenerate style he was peddling, that no "look here, look at the light on this limb" which really was immaculately rendered and they'd parade the bullshit as if it were really the work of a genius and not a cowardly fraud. picasso denied himself of his potential, and in doing so denied the world. i fucking hate picasso.
