And yeah, argentina is a very european country in comparison to the rest of south america. But that's not necessarily because of spanish colonization. By the late 19th century we were one of the two great centers of european migration, together with the usa. Most of argies today descend from euros, and by far the two largest groups were spaniards and italians (though italians more than spaniards), which shaped our culture quite a bit. I've heard many people say that argie spanish (or at least the dialect spoken closer to buenos aires) is spanish spoken with an italian accent
