>>10221528It depends on what accent you are talking about. The southern accent is an offshoot of English settlers, while the Louisiana creole accent is an offshoot of French settlers. The midwestern accent that many have come to know as the “American accent” was influenced by British colonizers and immigrant from Germany, Africa, and the Netherlands. In my opinion, the transatlantic accent (about 70% British and 30% English) was the best accent spoken.
