I've stuck around for a while, and although there is a lot of spam and memes, I haven't noticed much shit-talk. It's surprisingly friendly in here.
Also, I think this thread is one of the more productive ones I've seen discussion-wise, so I'd like to offer this very thread as somewhat of a rebuttal to your claims.
