The worst places to live are currently in a civil war or a part of China, life expectancy is shooting up, poor nations are modernizing, and people are more educated than ever before.
Of course there are problems, nothing is perfect, but I would rather continue developing and changing just to see how far we can go rather than try to revert back to how things were 4 decades ago because of some arbitrary or romantic reason. Rome wasn't built by people trying to uphold tradition.
The only thing actually "wrong" with that picture is that those people aren't ethically German, but if they accept German values, does that even matter.
