Yes, it really sounded like an edgy atheist wannabe commentary.
In my experience with people around me (that's maybe not much) I learnt that most of the atheist people I know (I mean trully atheist from the bottom of their beings) are usually smarter in a general way. And that way is an espiritual way, they really spend or spent time wondering existencial question and coming to a conclusion.

Let me rephrase it:
I wish I hadn't spend so much time thinking about religion, our place in the universe, death and many more things that led me to the conclusion I have right now, and instead I just sticked to what I was thought.
Yes, I thought about the existance of a superior being, or another phase for us after death but I really don't think theres anything there.
