The total wipe of our planet, due to epic cataclysm, is inevitable, in the most absolute sense. If you want to look at this with logic, the only possible way to get above a 0% chance of having the human race survive, we will eventually have to journey into space, and hedge our bets.
There is no escape from this reality. The earth cannot go on forever. An asteroid or comet could hit. A fuckin burst of radiation, our sun could die, the poles will flip violently , and a million other things.
While a vast majority of these things can be looked at and say that's a million years off.. it might not be.
The absolute certainty, is that it can not last forever.
