>>10271477yeah the queen is more or less a relic of the past mostly used for tourism
most people in my generation are either indifferent or dislike her, and it's about a 50/50 split among old people between love and indifference/hate
i don't understand america's obsession with her. you guys seem to care more about her when it comes up in conversation than most people from the uk that i've spoken to
also you know a lot of other european countries have kings and queens right?
denmark, sweden, spain the netherlands
like
loads, but americans seem to only think that england has monarchs?? the thing you said about americans applauding ignorance is self evident even when i talk to most of you guys online
like sometimes it's really hard to tell if it's the classic stereotypical american attitude towards the rest of the world and themselves or if they're trying to troll
also i'd like to get this off my chest
when europeans say that americans are fat ugly and stupid, it's only half joking. a lot of us genuinely think lesser of you, which makes me curious. do most americans even know this? when i talk to americans online they dont even seem to acknowledge it so i'm really curious about that
i don't know anyone that's served in the military i don't think. my grandad did but not for long and i don't think he got deployed anywhere.
my dad was in the merchant navy but that doesn't count either. i know my brother planned on going into the military and from what i understood of it, you got a decent ish education and a bunch of perks.
