>>10274569to be honest though, there are lots of tragedies and health issues and this one particular gruesome incident, but that's wrestling.
It's an artform. It's this bizarre awesome theater. And it's roots is a carnie show. It's dangerous. but that's where there is glory too.
While I don't agree with the crazy hardcore stuff because then the question is "wait, come on now, we're all supposed to be pretending that this is a wrestling match, remember?" and I don't like it when things get too far away from that. (which is why I don't like gimmicks like the undertaker that much, since it was too cartoony)
It's about balance of safety, entertainment and keeping true to the spirit of the sport.
Getting thrown on tacks, yeah who cares, it's just flesh wounds. But repeatedly getting kendo sticks and steel chairs across the skull?
Yeah, use sparingly and make it count.
Kinda why I hate the "flurry of punches" in some wrestling matches. If you have good workers in the ring, getting punched once and selling it works way better than getting a flurry of punches, but then the other guy standing up and continuing to do fast paced wrestling like nothing just happened doesn't do anything. It just wastes time.
