What language should I do on Duolingo?
I tried doing German for a little bit, but it's starting to confusing, and I keep mixing up words with other words. Then I did Irish, and I'm actually getting along pretty well with that, but I want to do another language as well. So any suggestions should be welcome

I dont think you should use duolingo alone, better get some generic coursebook + workbook + audiodisk, then start reading the dictionary, then add duolinguo just as a side addition, like 45 mins a day. Then watch films with native subs and dictionary, then watch just original film.

Spanish is the second most talked western language so there's a reason to speak it. It would open yourself a whole new continent.

That being said as a native spanish speaker I can tell you that is a pretty difficult language. To master it properly you must become a linguist or have a degree on Hispanic Literature.

I'm a 24 year old and the only foreigners that can talk a decent spanish are the ones who lived here for a couple of years. The rest sound like entitles retarded kids. So if you're socially awkward you might have a rough time dealing with native speakers.

Do you actually speak the languages though?
I'm also learning a language through duolingo but I'm wondering how effective it is if you use it without or with barely any additional material. I'm currently about 1/3 through with all the available lessons and while I can somewhat understand what people are talking about I'm pretty much unable to build proper sentences and understanding involves a lot of guesswork and nonverbal clues

been doing duolingo for a couple of days, it's more something you should be doing alongside a better, more robust learning resource. Remember to read all the notes and tips on each lesson but even with that duo is very basic

English learners have it easy. There's so much material that makes it so easy for you to immerse yourself in like 4chan. I've been trying to immerse myself in Russian but it's proven difficult, but it was nice finding Двaч.

If you're learning German I guess you could go on Krautchan. But I don't know if it's back up and running.

So OP asked what language he should learn. I guess I didn't answer his question. Here's my suggestion.

If you plan on going into the military learn Farsi/Arabic for pay bonus. For a real pay bonus I think they pay out the ass if you know some afghanistans languages and some Kurdish those obscure ones.

If you plan on being some corporate executive or management somewhere for an international company learn Chinese.

If you're some kind of prepper learn Russian. You know why.

For versatility like other anons have said French, German, Spanish.

Other than that any other language should be learned only based on absolute need especially since learning and retaining a language is hard.

There's lots of foreign chans. From anons on here they say that the only way they learned English was because of 4chan. The Brazilians have their own chan so that's Portuguese. The Russians have dvacha and the Germans have krautchan. The japs obviously have one. There might be one for Spainards.
