find a genre that you like and look for shows or movies that seem interesting to you

there are a ton of different genres within anime so if you look within a specific genre that you're already interested in you're bound to find something you enjoy~

Well find a thing about it that you want specifically. Maybe try looking for a nice shounen (specific type of anime, not a genre), its how I started anime.
For me, I want romance and lewd stuff to fill the void in my soul/heart so I watch ecchi anime. Thats just an example.
