For the most part in the mammal world, the female has the honors to choose her breeder. Males being well aware of this, compete between each other in different ways. Whomever wins the display, will be chosen by the female. It is nature's way to ensure the offspring will be a step forward in evolution, to ensure it will be stronger than its predecessor. It is no coincidence most females around dark skinned males tend to pick one of them instead of any other race.
