In Albert's mind contains: [C, 1,2,4,5,6]
Likewise Bernard's mind contains: [3, A,B,D]. By being told he doesn't know the pad, through his own process of elimination, the only letter he didn't know was C, so now he knows the correct pad since he already had the right number. Then the same happens with Albert, he realizes the only number he didn't have in his mind was 3, so now he knows.
But I still don't see how you can come to the conclusion of C3 without previously knowing the info they both already had?
