>>10417026I like your spirit of questioning, however I believe it is misguided. Astronomy classes are kinda BS as they throw facts out at you and sprinkled with simple physics. If you start from first principles Newton’s Laws, Maxwell’s Laws, Lagrangian formulation, Optics, special relativity, general relativity and really go through the math, you will not be disappointed. Eventually, at a much higher level, you well reach cosmology and more modern developments from these principles.
Also, I don’t believe our understanding of reality should be affected by how such understanding will affect society. Perhaps sometimes we are going too fast for everyone to be on board.
