I never really went to school. I had friends, but most of them were bad. At night, I would lie down in the field and watch the stars. Because there was no light pollution out in Scapoose, you could see so much.

When I went out to the city, it was like going to the carnival. Even if we couldn't buy anything at Walmart, just going through the toy section was enough for me.
All my life, I wanted a video game system. Some of my friends had them, and there were sometimes game systems at Blockbuster, but it wasn't the same thing.
On my birthday, my mom wanted to give me a present. I knew I wasn't going to get much, maybe something worth $20 if I was lucky. I got a PSP. I had no idea how my mom could have afforded it, but I was so happy.
Later that night, she got arrested. Apparently, the cops didn't know that my PSP was stolen from Walmart, so I played with it in the waiting room.
The lady at the front desk left. I was the only person there, so I snuck over to her computer.
There was a post it note saying the username and password for the Portland police department website.
I remembered my PSP had an internet browser, and I entered the username and password.
It worked. I instantly felt like Neo from The Matrix.
I looked at all of the controls on the page, but none of them made any sense to me. Except one - "Enable CME"
A Coronal Mass Ejection. That's what causes the Aurora Borealis, which the gov't was trying to stop!
