that and the entire American experience taught to you in school is to shoot for the stars and compare yourself to others based on earnings. I mean like look at STEM vs. the Arts, who the fuck really sides with the arts? It's a laughing stock, even when you push out postmodernism. Honestly, if my son came to me and said he wanted to be an artist for a living, I'd do whatever I could to convince him to get a STEM degree. He'd statistically earn more money, enough to do whatever he really wants. I know several programmers who drop 75K out of pocket to buy a new car wholesale without even sweating it. I only know like one artist who earns enough to afford a two bedroom house and two cars.
