In any case the SS is the culprit most of the time, and there was always a strained relationship between Hitler and the SS, especially where the more radical SS ideas are concerned. If there were death camps Himmler may well have hidden their existence even from Hitler. This is backed up by the well known fact that no written orders to carry out the Holocaust exist. If it happened, I think Hitler definitely didn't know about it.
