Use to only buy American or Swedish. American cars regularly hit 250k to 300k with little issues. Swedish cars were always quirky but such a joy to drive. Want more reliability, get a Toyota Corolla, never had more fucking problems in my life. It rattles. Interior parts falling off. Plastic trim flies off on the freeway. Engine knocks and rattles especially on startup. Idles uneven. Trunk won't open. Gas latch stopped working. Lots of road noise. Shakes at 60 mph. Half the interior lights and electronics stopped working. Clear coat failed and is now peeling the paint and rusting underneath. Transmission won't shift sometimes, other times shifts very rough, takes five seconds before it goes in reverse. This fucking car has 97k miles.... never buying a pile of shit Japanese car again. This car has cost me more in maintenance than my Saab. Also, it has a 2.0l engine, its so slow it can't get out of its own way, and yet still, it gets worse gas mileage than my Saab with a 2.3l Turbo. How does a lighter car with a smaller engine get worse mileage? Toyota are piles of shit now. So are Hondas, same stories with all my friends and these piece of crap Japanese cars.
