I'm of two minds on this:
First Mind: Easy enough to get to heaven, as this is from the Pope John Paul II catechism...
[1858] Grave matter is specified by the Ten Commandments, corresponding to the answer of Jesus to the rich young man: “Do not kill, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and your mother.” (132) The gravity of sins is more or less great: murder is graver than theft. One must also take into account who is wronged: violence against parents is in itself graver than violence against a stranger.
So, don't bang the neighbors wife, don't even plot to do so, don't steal, don't lie about people, don't defraud people (lie to steal), honor mom and dad.
Okay, pretty easy to not do that. So, HEAVEN!
Second Mind: Saint Thomas Acquinas says that even thinking about sex is damnation. How do you not think about sex?! You're made to think about sex. I'd be in the confessional every week, and I'd be lying if I said I thought I could give up THINKING about sex. No, I'm not going to have sex with the neighbors wife, or even fornicate. No, I'm not going to "covet" or masturbate, but just thinking about it? I've tried. It's like "don't think of the chicken" but you WILL think of the chicken if you know you're damned if you think about chickens. Hell for sure, unless I get struck dead coming out of the confessional.
