KJV would certainly be used by Protestants, Catholics use a different bible since they have some extra books that arent considered canon by other Christian denominations.

Not only is the King James Bible the best english translation but its an absolute joy to read. Make sure to get a good copy and preferably one that includes the Apocrypha
