why do people past the age of 20 watch anime?

the vast majority of anime is not even -good- entertainment, its just tired cliches and overused,constantly recycled tropes (im not talking about GOAT stuff like GITS or studio ghibli stuff)

why not watch an objectively superior media like good movies? I got over my very brief anime phase when i was 15-17 and never looked back, cant stand it now
