For beginners we're both Catholic, Croatians being more pious. We're both lovers of fish, lamb and goat meat and are masterful barbecuers. We both favor generally robust, spicy foods, olive oil, red wine, and we're especially fond of tomatoes (Croats have “sataraj”, a spicy tomato-pepper relish.) we both love espresso coffee, while other south Slavs prefer cezveh (Turkish) coffee. We both love to party, drink and make music. To top it off, the Italian region of Molise, located south of Abruzzo, north of Puglia, is the only non-slavic neighbor of the Croats that supports a substantial population of Dalmato-Croats, who continue to speak their own Slavic language, Shtokavian. In conclusion the only slavic thing about us is language.
