When the bump-botting was going on the other week, I was curious if they knew about it, so I lurked a bit. But, although they'd noticed the board was moving faster, none of them knew why. This seems a pretty good sign that they don't, or at least rarely.

No, but that makes sense. That's also why the people - or a vocal few of them, anyway - are so against turning the Holo threads into a more offical general. They say that's what kills those kinda threads, and I'm inclined to agree. There is someone who occasionally tries to push a paste into the op, but he's always derided or ignored when he does. With a topic as popular as it is, though, it probably couldn't hurt. It isn't a niche game, after all. But there's something to said about forcing people to lurk to find the info they could instead easily find in a paste.

This may very well sound retarded, but would a board dedicated entirely to celebrity generals or something of that sort help? Media generals or something. It could host a bunch of these, from k-pop to hololive or generals about other idols.

There's still hours of content being produced on the daily, as well as the occasional big event, so there's plenty to talk about. But honestly I don't post there too often, cause it moves so fast that it's basically a chat. Not much room for longer discussions, that way. And while the general vtuber thread moves slow enough for that, they don't like people tallking about Hololive there. Wish there was a more balanced way.

Having so many people attracts a lot of characters, too. There was someone who, on two non-consecutive occasions, posted pics of one the Holo's names cut into his skin. Not to mention the cum tributes. There was even a 'dox' thread, which featured the irl members. So for these reasons, it's at least interesting.

It would hopefully get people to shut up about all these e-celebs. If only for that, it's not a bad idea. I just don't think all the different people would like sharing the same board.

I figured as much, but do these v-tubers make content that's diverse? Don't gaming streams (for example) get stale after a while? Also what is the main focus of those, the game or the tuber? I would find it difficult to immerse myself into the game when somebody does commentary on it.

Kaoroke, freetalk, asmr, etc. It depends on the streamer, though. I'll tune into smaller ones when the ones I like aren't on, and they're really focused on playing and barely talking. It's funny you say that, because those're the two main groups of users in the vtuber threads. The Holo ones in particular, as they have a lot of popularity among /v/ users, whereas the /jp/ users were mostly there from before they got big. They get along... ok-ish. There's enough common ground, anwyay. So considering this, the results of a board like that may not be too bad.

That's true. Nobody watches the non-commentary gaming channels for the youtuber but for the game. Similarly, the viewers of the commentary channels are there for the guy who does said commentary. Hey at least we've got options to choose from.

Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing some Hololive threads here and there when I went to /v/ to talk (or at least attempt to) about The Last of Us 2. Well, if I would post on /v/ more often than once every few years, I'd definitely pick those threads over the hundredth /pol/ thread.

It's either that or allow it fully on /jp/, instead of containing them to a couple generals. The issue with this being that they're too cramped. By allowing them to spread out, you could have actual discussions, even if they might be a somewhat slow. And as you can see from the /v/ and occasional /g/ threads, the containment already doesn't work.

There's been some attempts to spread into the rest of /jp/ too, but they're deleted pretty quickly. I'm sure the mods know about these and the leakage into other boards. So, if there's a want for them as there clearly is, I don't see why they continue like this.

I'm not doubting that and I am also quite certain that it would work, but only initially. Discussion boards start off well, but sooner or later they get infected by /pol/ and /r9k/ types which makes many of the original posters leave which in turn worsens the overall quality of said board. It's what happened to /lit/, though I haven't been there from the very begining. Rumour has it, even early /r9k/ had some well thought out posts initially. I shouldn't be so pessimistic all the time though...

I don't either. Maybe I am delusional, but moot wouldn't have left the website to degenerate so much. Then again, Anons way older than me would say that it had already degenerated a lot by the time I even got here. Thing is, it's quite clear that Hiro has no intentions of doing anything and the mods who are active are only doing damage control at this point. But everybody's experience is different. Somebody who frequents /jp/ and /a/ for the most part probably sees things differently than somebody who's on /lit/ and /x/.

Yeah, it's just some server advertizing. I checked it out and there was no stream. It's a weird ploy, though. Wouldn't they only be deleted sooner than if it was just an ordinary ad?

But if they were to be allowed on /jp/, I doubt this would be a problem, given its relatively strict moderation. However, this all rests on their continued popularity. If they continue to grow in popularity, as they're expected to, opening things up should only be expected; if not, though this's doubtful, then keeping them in their threads should be fine.

And we can also assuume that, with the coming election, the number of users will only increase. Besides adding more staff, I don't see how they expect to moderate simply thru deletions and bans. It at least works for now, but for how long? There has to be a change at some point.

I have tried discord out a few months ago because I was morbidly curious, but I didn't join any servers. Are they as cancerous as they say? Those screencaps of /r9cute/ or whatever made my stomach turn. There were rumours of pedo rings operating there in the past as well, but that's probably conspiracy theory territory.
In any case, it's quite a shame that even whatsapp has better security than discord.

Yes, that's the word I should have used from the start. This is what I get for never proofreading my posts (but you could probably tell that by now).
There is a certain disconnect that the screen provides. For example, I have seen my share of gore in the past and I became "desensitized" to it, or at least that's what I thought. Then I have witnessed a car crash and somebody throwing themselves in front of the metro. These were much tamer than the videos but a lot more traumatising.

Eh, depends on the server. Even the few I joined from /r9k/ weren't that bad. The only truly questionable one I was in is Sheep Village. There're both underage and of age people in it, but it's essentially for e-dating. Though it's not explicitly bad, I wouldn't want my kid using it, either.

I'd say that I hope so, but I don't know what we would be saving. 70% of this board is /r9k/ anyway. The other 30% I like though, so I wouldn't want those posters to leave. Though I think that some of them have already done so...
Trips can be banned if it's used in a combination with names and avatars, I believe. So if you were called "Aqua" and would only post Aquas while also having a trip that is related to these two things, then I think that they would try to ban you for avatar/signature use. They wouldn't be able to, of course. That category seems to be the most persistent.

I believe that it is for the worse. It normalises certain things. For example, due to how common porn usage among kids is, they end up having all sorts of expectations which are completely parallel with reality.

Speaking of shady stuff, did you know that many of the porn stars get intoxicated on set and a lot of stuff happens to them that they wouldn't normally agree to? But they can't really fight back because they've signed a contract that says that they consent to everything that happens on set. And even if they tried to fight back I doubt they'd have the money to fight off the big wigs' armies of lawyers.

That's something they've tried to push in the west as well but it doesn't seem to work anymore. Loyalty to a company, sounds ridiculous. Soon enough companies will have more privileges than people, if they don't already.
Is their economy getting poorer? I though theirs was one of the best in the world.

I don't know myself. I don't really have a plan. One more year and I'll finish my masters. I didn't even plan on making it this far.

I wish I knew. People having had to put more thought into their posts doesn't necessarily imply quality, just length. As in they weren't able to make a "brown gf" thread for example, but they still could make a lengthy blogpost about how they wish they had a girlfriend. And it must have snowballed from there.

It's still relatively great, but compared to the 80's boom, yeah. They've been in a more or less continuous recession since the 90s, which isn't helped by the population issue. But it's still far from bad, of course.

Well they wouldn't have that problem if people had time for their families. Who wants one when you can't even see your wife and kids anyway? And on that one free day you've got you're too exhausted to do anything. But they can't back down now, people don't have the social skills to find partners anymore even if they had the time to. I believe this has to be learned while one is still young.

Hell if I know. I have a few internships which can lend me a job in publishing. Problem is I like physical labour more than soulless desk jobs. Especially in publishing. The industry is a travesty.

It was deleted before. I don't know how many times though. But the archives might not go that far back. I suppose it could be useful as a containment board, if it weren't leaking all the time. That sort of posters have always been around, we can't just get rid of them. Though they already have an entire website dedicated to their kind, wizardchan.

I don't expect anybody to see it as something healthy. It's always been there though, ever since I was little. Those pictures made me feel like everything was alright with the world. I know it sounds messed up. But then after I ended up feeling sad, that even though it was only some drawings it implied that somebody was getting hurt and crying...
I am also glad Croatia hadn't managed to find that Tomoe ryona he was talking about. I don't want to see it.

That is the biggest obstacle, isn't. And is it worth it in the end to keep your country afloat? People would surely be more happy, though happiness isn't everything. If only there was a way to balance it.
