Even if you think there's nothing at all after death the prospect of total nothingness can be seen as a type of ultimate enlightenment. Complete detachment. I think some comfort can be found in that.
I like the idea of death being akin to a change in energy. The life force of myself will go on to fuel thousands of other beings. In that way I am immortal and will never truly die.
This philosophy can coexist with any religion as well so I think it has an inherent truth to it. If a small portion of myself is preserved as a soul, then heaven, reincarnation, etc are all possible, but where my physical self ends, life begins for countless others. No matter what comes after death, I can be at peace with it in life.
