>>10816954The gaming industry died in the middle of the 7th Generation. I'll explain. The Wii was so fucking popular with average people that no one could ignore it. It was a phenomenon. Now none of these people buying the Wii bought anything once they got the console that came bundled with 4 party games, but that doesn't matter to hardware manufacturers. Knowing Nintendo would never sell out to investors, Microsoft and Sony thought they could make a boatload of cash by selling their own cameras and motion control hardware. Lots of people bought them at first, but no one bought the games, just like Wii.
Anyways, this convinced investors that video games had "gone mainstream". So they bought up game studios, hardware manufacturers, and so on. Activist investors got their claws into big game publishers. The people running companies like EA or the XBOX division of Microsoft were people who had not played a video game in 30 years and were more concerned with maximizing investor profits than in making games. So during the 8th Gen, you saw all the remasters that they could milk for millions. Needless sequels to game franchises that should have died years before. But more importantly, you now had to answer to the public as to why your dev teams were only young, white, straight men making games featuring young, white, straight men and sexy white women for mostly young, white, straight men. Now that the (((investors))) were in control, it became "problematic" that women and minorities were "underrepresented" both behind the scenes and on the screen. So now the people who control the big game studios make games that feature shockingly ugly lesbians and niggers, while filling their development ranks with psychotic trannies and militant feminists. They now make the games for the big developers. And if you say anything about it, you are some kind of "-ist". Racist, misogynist, etc. Gaming died of popularity 10 years ago. It's never been the same.
