plants evolved the way they do because creatures like us eat them, shit them out and spread the seed
then we started to evolve ourselves and domesticated plant life by creating farms and we eliminated the waste by inventing toilets
the other natural fruit and veg in the world is still spread primarily via animals droppings
this is how they survive, and it's not like they don't adapt either
natural fruit is often sourer or rougher than that of domesticated fruit which is cultivated to be edible
of course you can still eat it, as we have done for a millenia, and still shit the seeds out, and plants will still grow
for plants, this is survival of the fittest
your mistake is perceiving that to mean that the universe is this hostile place where even fruit and vegetable are eating each other alive trying to be the best fruit and veg but the fact is that only animals and humans live like that
plants do not have consciousness and therefore cannot compete
they simply propagate themselves via the aforementioned cycle of eating and pooping
this IS survival of the fittest
of course that doesn't mean God didn't put it there in the first place
it doesn't mean that God did not design the structure of it's life cycle and has no part in its evolution
if you weren't such a simpleton this much would be self-evident but you've unfortunately convinced yourself that it has to be one or the other
