Because of the phrasal verbs, the dozens of sentence structures, the millions of exceptions in grammar and phonetics, the way a phrase can be turned right upside down because instead of 1 object you have 2, or because a happened before b, or a caused b, etc.

No language is 'completely consistent' but every major tongue is far far far more consistent than English. In fact if I'm not mistaken the inconsistency of English is why it became a global language (That and British Imperial Hegemony, followed by American post-war market hegemony) because you only needed to memorize a few stem phrases rather than a complicated but expressive grammar. So the threshold to speaking ANY English was lower, but if you wanted to express more original or unique concepts you were fucked.

And the reason I mention the peasant thing is because that's the reason it's a bastard language: in most other cultures the aristocracy spoke the same or a sibling language of the lower classes. Imagine how much more consistent English would be if William the Conqueror had of brought over Dutch or German instead of French?

Verbs in english, if it isn't an irregular verb, have only 3 forms. (Infinite, past simple, past participle) while in portuguese verbs can have up to 40 forms.
I usually speak english better than portuguese

Japanese is also pretty hard. Some of the particles are very strange, and not separating them with another character is silly. Like what the fuck is up with "Ga"? And why do you still use kanji in general, especially since they aren't used as glyphs for specific things in a lot of words and are just there for the sound it makes?

Read the textbooks with proper explanations. If you're too stupid to understand them - listen to audio plays, watch anime, read books. Get the *feel* for proper time to use "ga" through sheer volume of experiences of its correct usage.

most of those arent realy tenses and are more like tones of speech or grammatical markers, and some of the things in that list are not used anymore or are only used in extra-formal settings

if you want a complex language with a lot of bullshit tenses, look at french. theres even a special dictionary-like book just to keep track of it all that people commonly have, it's called a "bescherelle"
