>>10914987When ever I see anything like this, first thing I do is check the figures, then search for any debunks. The vast majority of time the debunks are rational and reasonable and reveal major weaknesses in some extraordinary claim, if not outright lies.
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/pyramid-location-speed-light/The debunk in this case claims coincidence and gives the fact that a position on the pyramid can match a north coordinate of anywhere between 29.980150 N and 29.978150 N
The actual apex of the pyramid lies at 29.9791750 N
Speed of light is 299 792 458
Its still fucking close though.
Still too much of a coincidence for my liking, and the argument of the measurement being in metric invalidating the claim is irrelevant when you consider how the metric system is derived. One meter is one ten-millionth of the distance from the equator to the North Pole along a great circle. So it is based on geometric construct based on the Earth, not an arbitrary length made up out of nowhere.
Now here is one fly in the ointment.. The location of the pyramid's apex today is most probably not where it was when it was built. The surface of the earth shifts with local seismic events and continental drift. If we are wanting to get finicky with measurements that are measured in the thousandths and millionths of decimal places, then its probably a good idea to take that into account. According to this:
https://science.jrank.org/pages/104/Africa-Continental-drift.htmlAfrica is moving northwest at about 2cm per year. If we make one assumption of the pyramid's age being 4,500 years old then continental drift, if constant, would account for approximately 9000cm, or 90m ( or nearly 100 yards )
This of course does not account for any earthquakes over the last 4500 years which might have shunted things any which way by a some amount. But figuring that out would likely require detailed geological knowledge.
