The other appeal of the forum is that I can decide who I want to be in a thread, I can post as anon if I want to talk about stuff or I can post as akariman , or anybody else to be honest. I can express myself however I want. To me, this website is about freedom and ease of use.
I feel like your market place of ideas point isn't personally appealing to me because I generally don't want to argue online. If I wanted to change my mind, I would try to read a book on the subject written by a professional.
Due to the lack of accounts, The website isn't personalized at all. Which means I'm not getting fed the same stuff that the algorithm thinks I want which gets repetitive. With 4chan I can find things that I don't know about, and that makes me happy because I might like them .
This board is also finite which I find very great, because I'm put off by websites with infinite feeds of content.
There are many reasons someone would prefer to post on this forum excluding your point. All though I do see how your point is attractive to certain types of people.
