Take the original narwhal meme thread on /b/. That was back when people would do image dumps, and /b/tards wouldn't derail it if it was decent. I bring that one up because it's an example of /b/ coolness that was spammed all over shit sites like reddit, and helped bring people here who wanted to be in the cool crowd. I haven't been able to stomach /b/ for years, but I'm pretty sure that sort of creativity died a few years ago, and that change marked a turning point.
People who say /b/ was never good don't make sense to me. It always had a ton of crap, but 10 years ago you could always find a funny or interesting thread there, which has not been true for a long time.
