Some ways you can spot a slide thread 99% of the time:
>Meme flag>May consist of a single sentence (sometimes a run on sentence)>Sometimes repeats the same thing they included in the subject field in the comment field>Low effort, unimportant topics under meme flags are definitely shills.>Rhetorical question in either (or both) the title field or the comment.>(for more intuitive anons) You can tell by the energy: is it snarky, sarcastic, belittling? Sometimes it’s not obvious they’re trolling but you can feel it.>Fake effort post: Copy pasted article, long unnecessary sentences with no substance, asking multiple rhetorical questions.+They have also started replying 3-4 times per thread as they are paid to and this throws off the old “1 post by this ID” red flag.
Report respectively for either: trolling outside of /b/, low effort, spam/flooding, or off topic.
Remember to sage and give them no reason to reply if you can help it as they get paid per reply (and most likely for creating the thread to begin with).
Thus it is even more imperative you report them and get them banned to stop them from making any money (it is usually deposited in an account and may or may not be used to fund their college tuition).
(Also Janitors should do an occasional sweep of the board to help out but be aware of the following:)
Some low effort/off topic OPs may be genuine users just socialising within the board. Use your discretion.
Try to tell whether or not the user is authentic or just trying to lower the overall quality of the board (they may just be trying to talk amongst other users).
They generally don’t use mem flags except in an ironic sense.
Maybe avoid reporting them if you haven’t reported an actual shill beforehand.
