The thing is, they need or want nothing from us. Occupation of a planet would need the resources of a planet. So why would they come at all?

An advanced aliens culture would simply overwhelm ours. Whether we liked it or not we would end up being their slaves, they wouldn't need a laser whip or robot guards, we would ask them to lead us as they cured all diseases, ended war and gave us holodecks and space ships to play with.
