>>11088853PLEASE folks, don't share Qanon/SaveTheChildren posts. They are misinformation and it's an alt-right conspiracy theory campaign that's pro-Trump and anti-LGBTQ. And it's just outright wrong information.
For example, 2000 kids a day/800,000 are not going missing and never found in the USA. The actual statistics are literally half of that, and over 97% are found right away. Most of those are run a ways, and out of the rare missing persons that are actually abductions over 90% are a parent or family member in a custody dispute. Less than 1% of missing persons reports for children are stranger abductions. Further the number isn't accurate to how many go missing, but rather to how many reports are filed, which means if the same kid runs away 6 times they are reported as 6 separate missing persons. This is important when you consider that 96% of missing persons reports for minors are run aways.
Look, I get it, we all hate child molesters and we want to be shocked and say something. But posting Qanon shit isn't helping anyone except the evangelical right wing and Donald Trump.
When you see one of these posts going viral, click on the original poster and scroll down their wall, I can pretty much guarantee what you'll find. Posts calling BlackLivesMatter a terrorist group, pro Trump posts, anti-mask and anti-vax shit, and anti-science stuff. These people even claim that the whole COVID stuff is made up to get people to put children in masks so they are easier to abduct because facial recognition software won't be able to recognize them... like holy fuck. Please don't support this nonsense.
