>>11103382>>11103382We know what they do pretty well. Why do you think that data is not accurate? We observe them just like you observe anything else. If you measure a length of wire, you are observing photons bouncing off the wire and the tape measurer and hitting your eyeball. One way that we measure black holes is by photons that are ripped from a star in close to the black hole being spun around it directed towards us where it hits one of our telescopes.
And do you care about getting close? What do you even mean by getting close? There is one at the center of our own Galaxy, is that close enough?
